In a significant effort to prioritize the well-being of mothers, newborns, and children, Mrs. Priscilla Otti has taken the lead in launching the highly anticipated Maternal Newborn Child Health week in Abia State, located in the South-East region of Nigeria.

This comprehensive initiative brings together a multitude of organizations and partners, including esteemed entities like UNICEF, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), the Abia State Primary Health Care Development Agency, the Abia State Ministry of Health, and other dedicated development partners.

The overarching objective of this week-long campaign is to extend essential health services to a staggering number of individuals.

With a target audience encompassing over 1 million pregnant women and 890,000 children between the ages of 0 and 59 months, the reach of the program is truly remarkable.

By focusing on this vulnerable population, the initiative aims to enhance the overall health and well-being of the community.

During the course of the program, the collaborating organizations will join forces to deliver a range of vital health interventions.

These interventions include administering routine immunizations to protect against infectious diseases, distributing vitamin A supplements to address nutritional deficiencies, and providing insecticide-treated nets to combat the threat of malaria.

Furthermore, the teams will conduct screenings using the Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) technique, which aids in assessing the nutritional status of children.

This data enables healthcare providers to identify and address malnutrition effectively.

In addition to these critical interventions, the Maternal Newborn Child Health week prioritizes health education as an essential component of the campaign. Through informative sessions and demonstrations, the program will promote effective handwashing practices, empowering participants with knowledge that can help prevent the spread of diseases and improve overall hygiene.

Mrs. Priscilla Otti, a driving force behind this endeavor, expressed her unwavering dedication to ensuring that no mother or child is left behind when it comes to healthcare.

She underscored the commitment of the Abia State government, led by the visionary His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, to prioritize the well-being of women and children in the state.

By spearheading this Maternal Newborn Child Health week, Mrs. Priscilla Otti and the collaborative efforts of various organizations aim to create lasting improvements in the lives of countless individuals, fostering a healthier and more prosperous future for Abia State and its community.
