UNIBEN management, Ekosodin elders laud Obaseki, EDSOGPADEC investment on roads construction

The University of Benin Community in Ugbowo and Elders of Ekosodin were elated over the Construction of 9.84km road with asphalt overlay and 1.76Km fresh road awarded on the school premises in Ovia North East local government near Benin City.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Lilian Salami, thanked Governor Godwin Obaseki for giving the marching orders to the interventionist agency to completely give the school community a new look.

While expressing the University management, staff members and students’ appreciation to the Governor and Chairman of the Commission, Pastor Kennedy Osifo, Professor Salami said the school would always remember the kind gesture of the state government.

She said Governor Godwin Obaseki’s goodwill earned him honours and was honoured by Vanguard Newspaper as governor of the Year 2021.

Also speaking, Pastor Kennedy Osifo, Chairman of the commission said the construction and asphalting of roads cut across three Oil-Producing areas of the State.

Pastor Osifo said the Edo State Governor was investing greatly in Edo roads and in a bid to make Edo Great again, he gave EDSOGPADEC the marching orders to construct and asphalt Ekosodin road, which was split into two, Ekosodin Phase I and Phase II in Ovia North East Local Government Area.

The Chairman stated that Ekosodin phase I consisted of the main Ekosodin road with five adjoining streets, while Ekosodin Phase II consisted of the Construction 9.84km road with Asphalt overlay and 1.76km fresh road awarded on the school premises of the University of Benin in Ovia North East Benin City.

Some of the indigenes of Okabere Community appreciated the Edo State Governor, for the construction of PZ and Okabere road.

They said before now, they went through other communities before they could access their community, because of the deplorable state of the road, it was nicknamed “Ekiye junction” (Frog junction).

They reiterated that the construction of the road had made life easy for the indigenes of Community.

Receiving the newsmen in his Office, the Chairman of Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPSSDEC), Pastor Kennedy Osifo said that the Construction of PZ – Okabere road was split into four roads, namely PZ road 2073km, Ehioghae Road 1.93km, Eriaria Road 1.95km and Okabere Road 5km.

He said the road which had reached 95% completion was first awarded in 2018 and re-awarded by the new Board in 2019.

According to him: “EDSOGPADEC as an interventionist Agency swift into action to ameliorate the pains of the people of the Community the chairman stated that, EDSOGPADEC Achievement is attributed to the developmental drive of his excellency, Mr Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki whose administration is desirous of bringing dividends of democracy to all Economic sectors of the state to align with the make Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda.”
