Two women, Alabi Oluwafunmi 29, and Toying Dada 22, were on Friday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged fighting and breach of peace.
The defendants, whose addresses were not given, are facing a two-count charge of fighting and breach of peace.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence at about 9.30p.m on May 29, at Idemo Street in Ado-Ekiti.
He said that the defendants fought themselves in a public place and conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breakdown of law and order.
He said that the offence contravened Sections 67 and 181(D) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor urged the court for adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
Counsel to the defendants, Mr Sunday Balogun, urged the court to grant them bail, and promised that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Olarewaju Owoleso, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until July 9 for hearing. (NAN)
