Mr Aliyu Usman and Ms Felicia Habila, were on Tuesday docked before a Chief Magistrates’ Court, Wuse, Abuja, for allegedly causing grievous hurt on their neighbour, Ibrahim Salisu.

The prosecuting counsel, Chinenye Okafor told the court that the complainant reported the matter at Mabushi Police Station on July 15.
Okafor alleged that the defendants and the complainant, had a misunderstanding and in the process, the defendants cut the complainant’s left leg with a cutlass.
The prosecution counsel said that the complainant sustained injuries as a result and was rushed to Maitama General Hospital, Maitama, Abuja.
She further said the complainant’s hospital bill cost N250, 000, adding that the offence contravened sections 79 and 247 of the Penal Code.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.
The defence counsel, Helen Akpala made a bail application for the defendants citing section 165 of Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), urging the court to grant it in the most liberal terms.
Akpala said that bail was at the court’s discretion and prayed that same was exercised in favour of the defendants.
The Magistrate, Abubakar Sadiq granted the defendant N300,000 bail with two sureties, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
Sadiq added that the sureties must produce means of identification, their NIMC identity card and swear to an affidavit of means of livelihood.
He adjourned the matter until Sept.16 for hearing.
