Two Commissioners in Osun State have tested positive for COVID-19 infection, prompting the State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola to order all his cabinet members to undergo obligatory test for the viral infection.
The Commissioner for Information, Mrs Funke Egbemode, confirmed this to newsmen on Wednesday, adding that they had begun treatment and self-isolation.
According to Egbemode, the two unnamed cabinet members were discovered to be positive following the order by Governor Oyetola instructing his commissioners and aides to take the COVID-19 test.
Egbemode added that Gov. Oyetola had already taken the COVID-19 test.
“The results have returned and only two people returned positive.
“They have since gone into isolation and commenced treatment.
“We can confirm that the members are stable, and a repeat test will be conducted in a few days to check their progress.:
She advised citizens to take personal responsibility for their safety and the safety of others to manage the second wave of the virus in the state.
The Commissioner disclosed that the governor also instructed all drivers in his convoy, domestic staff and aides attached to senior government officials to go for the COVID-19 test.
