For allegedly stealing stationery items belonging to the Court, two staff members of the Osun State High Court, Oke Fia, Osogbo have been arrested.
The suspects, identified as Adedoyin Adebowale (46) and Sulaiman Tajudeen (46), were said to have committed the offence on November 20, this year, and were arrested recently after investigations implicated them.
They were arraigned on Monday at the Osun Magistrate Court on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Police Prosecutor, Adeoye Kayode had informed the court that suspects committed the alleged offence on November 20,2020 at High court premises, Oke-fia, Osogbo.
Kayode alleged that the defendants did conspire with each other and stole six packs of typing sheets valued at N30,000, property of Osun state Judicary.
Kayode noted that the offence committed contravened Sections 516 and 383 punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun state 2002.
But the accused pleaded not guilty to the allegations of conspiracy and stealing leveled against them.
Defence Counsel, Taiwo Awokunle, made an oral application for the bail of the defendants in most liberal term.
He said that being staff members of state judiciary they will never jump bail, if granted, arguing that they had reliable sureties who were ready to stand for them.
Prisiding Magistrate, Mrs Adijat Oloyade granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in the like sum.
She, thereafter, adjourned the case till January 7, 2021 for hearing.
