Two offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ebonyi State have been reportedly set ablaze by persons who have yet to be identified.
The offices are located in Ebonyi and Ezza North Local Government Areas of the state.
No casualties were recorded but there were extensive damage to the building and facilities.
The incident happened a few hours before a meeting scheduled for Wednesday (today) between INEC and heads of security agencies over the attacks on the Commission’s offices.
The latest attack has brought the number of offices of the Commission that had been torched to 23.
The PUNCH reported that a breakdown of the incidents showed that the most affected states included Akwa Ibom (four), Abia (three) Anambra (two) and Imo (two).
Other states that witnessed fire incidents between February 2019 and May 2021 are Borno, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Kano, Ondo, Plateau and Rivers. Abuja was also affected. (The Punch)
