No fewer than six persons have been confirmed dead, while three others were injured in an accident involving a truck at the Ilo-Awela axis of the Toll Gate area on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State.

The Ota Divisional Commander of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Salau Hammed, confirmed the accident on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Hammed disclosed that the accident, which involved a truck, tricycle, and nine persons, occurred about 9:55 a.m. on Tuesday.

Hammed said the truck coming from Ilo-Awela toward the Toll Gate lost control due to brake failure and rammed into a tricycle, other vehicles, and pedestrians on the road.
