In a major tactical success, troops of Sector 2 under Operation HADIN KAI, alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and Hybrid Forces, have struck a critical blow to Boko Haram’s logistical network.

Acting on credible intelligence, the combined forces intercepted six brand new motorcycles in transit, reportedly purchased in Kano and destined for Boko Haram camps in Tabkin Chadi and the Timbuktu Triangle, two known strongholds of the terrorist group.

The operation took place on October 30, 2024, in Kukareta village, a strategic area known for its proximity to insurgent supply routes.

The troops were able to arrest a suspected Boko Haram courier who was reportedly coordinating the delivery of the motorcycles to enhance the group’s mobility and logistics in difficult-to-access terrains.

In addition to the motorcycles, the forces seized a mobile phone, which is expected to provide additional intelligence on the group’s operational plans and contacts.

Brigadier General Marcel Ejike, Commander of Sector 2, praised the troops for their swift response and their dedication to keeping insurgent forces on the defensive.

“This operation underscores the commitment and resilience of our personnel in dismantling terrorist networks and restricting their freedom of action in the region,” General Ejike said.

He encouraged the troops to sustain their momentum, emphasizing the need to dominate the operational area and prevent Boko Haram from reestablishing its logistical and operational footholds.

General Ejike also appealed to the local population for continued support and collaboration.

He stressed the importance of community cooperation in providing intelligence and fostering trust between military personnel and civilians.

“We cannot overstate the role of our citizens in sharing critical information that aids in the timely interception of threats. Together, we can disrupt the chain of support for these criminal elements,” he added.

The interception of motorcycles highlights the ongoing efforts of Operation HADIN KAI to cut off Boko Haram’s supply routes and logistics support. Such assets are vital for the terrorist group to navigate the challenging terrains of the Northeast, where they are largely isolated but still attempt to conduct raids and attacks.

According to Defense analysts, blocking Boko Haram’s access to resources, particularly mobility tools like motorcycles, significantly disrupts their operational reach and reduces their ability to recruit, communicate, and launch attacks on civilian and military targets.

This successful operation adds to the growing list of recent victories for Operation HADIN KAI and reaffirms the Nigerian military’s commitment to eliminating insurgency in the region.

The military has vowed to maintain heightened surveillance and interception operations to choke the supply lines and disrupt the organizational structures of insurgent groups.

The Nigerian Army urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, particularly movements of motorcycles and other supplies that could be commandeered for terrorist purposes.

This operation, along with ongoing intelligence and community support, underscores a united front against Boko Haram’s destabilizing presence in the Northeast.
