In a swift and decisive response, Nigerian Army troops deployed for counter-terrorism operations in Ebonyi State repelled an attack on Isheke Police Station by suspected IPOB terrorists.
The attackers had set fire to the facility and several vehicles.
Upon arrival, the troops launched a counter-attack, overwhelming the terrorists and forcing them to flee.
The ensuing pursuit led to an intense gun battle, resulting in the elimination of five suspects and the seizure of multiple weapons.
Recovered items included one PKT machine gun with a link belt containing 94 rounds of ammunition, two AK-47 rifles with three magazines holding 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one submachine gun with a magazine, and a Sienna SUV with registration number Ebonyi CHR-364JC.
