In continuation of coordinated, aggressive raids on identified armed bandits’ camps in Plateau state, troops of
“Operation SAFE HAVEN” have neutralized a notorious bandit leader along with some of his fighters, following an operation in the bandits’ hideout at Tafawa village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Confirming the report, Coordinator, Defence Media Operations Defence Headquarters, Major General John Enenche said the troops recorded this latest success following credible and actionable intelligence from local sources on the whereabouts of the notorious bandit leader hibernating in the area.
He said the troops had engaged the bandits during a foiled robbery at Bisichi and the bandit leader was fatally injured, but managed to flee the onslaught and was receiving treatment at the hideout in Tafawa village.
Enenche further stated that troops stormed his hideout, undeterred by the criminals’ futile effort to halt the advancing troops through sporadic shots fired at the troops.
He said the troops, adopting aggressive tactical maneuvers, overwhelmed the criminals with effective and superior firepower, neutralizing the bandit leader and some of his fighters while several others escaped with “fatal wounds”.
Enenche said troops were in pursuit of the fleeing criminals with express orders to bring them to book.
He said the Military HighCommand commended the troops for their gallantry, professionalism and resilience, and encouraged them to intensify the onslaught against the enemies of the country.
Enenche also encouraged the general public to continue providing credible information to the troops operating within their localities.
