Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji rescue five kidnap victims, neutralize bandits

The Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) troops have continued to achieve remarkable success in their operations.

Recently, they rescued five kidnapped victims, neutralized numerous armed bandits, and recovered arms and ammunition.

In one incident, troops from Sector 1 OPHD in Zamfara State responded swiftly to a distress call regarding armed bandit kidnappings and robberies on the Tsafe-Gusau highway.

A gunfight ensued upon their arrival, but the troops’ superior firepower and tactical abilities forced the bandits to flee, leaving the kidnapped victims unharmed.

The troops at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Garin Hausawa in Kebbi state acted upon receiving information about armed bandits in Madobiya village.

The bandits abandoned their kidnap victims and fled due to the troops’ aggressive response, leading to the rescue of three kidnapped individuals.

In another engagement, the Special Forces deployed in Sokoto state encountered armed bandits at Gundumi Village during a routine patrol. One armed bandit was neutralized, and the others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The troops recovered an AK-47 Rifle, 1 AK-47 Magazine loaded with 7.62 special ammunition from the scene.

On August 6, 2023, troops of Sector 3 in Sokoto state responded to information about bandits’ presence in Manu village.

Despite the bandits’ attempt to scare them off with heavy gunfire, the gallant troops stood their ground and forced the bandits to flee.

The troops recovered various items left behind by the bandits.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops from Forward Operating Base Raka apprehended a suspected bandit in Gigane District of Gwadabawa LGA, Sokoto state.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested bandit and his syndicate had been terrorizing the community.

On the same day, troops from Sector 2 OPHD deployed in Katsina state encountered a large number of armed bandits during a routine patrol.

Three bandits were neutralized, while two soldiers sustained gunshot wounds and are currently undergoing treatment in a military medical facility.

Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander of the Joint Task Force Northwest OPHD, lauded the troops’ efforts and encouraged them to keep up the fight until all bandit enclaves and hideouts are cleared.

He said that no area within his operational responsibility will be left untouched by the operations.

General Mutkut also urged citizens to remain vigilant, especially during the hours of darkness and poor visibility, as bandits have been exploiting these conditions to carry out their heinous acts.
