Troops neutralize terrorists, disrupt logistics operations in Northeast and Northwest

In an intensified offensive against insurgency, Nigerian troops have launched a series of successful operations across multiple theatres, neutralizing terrorists, disrupting logistics networks, and arresting key collaborators.

On February 26, 2025, troops overran terrorist positions in Iza and Garin Asmau villages within Sambisa Forest, Borno State, forcing insurgents to abandon their hideouts.

Several improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were detonated, while troops recovered ammunition and weaponry.

Four Boko Haram family members also surrendered.

In Konduga and Gujuba Local Government Areas, troops ambushed terrorist elements, neutralizing several fighters and seizing weapons, motorcycles, and ammunition.

Meanwhile, in Biu, troops arrested two Boko Haram financiers linked to cattle rustling operations used to fund insurgent activities.

In the Northwest, security forces made significant breakthroughs.

A notorious terrorist logistics supplier was apprehended in Zamfara State’s Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, caught with drugs and medical supplies intended for insurgents.

Separately, in Bukuyum, troops arrested a kidnapping kingpin whose network was behind the abduction of the Vice Chairman of Bukuyum Local Government Area on February 24, 2025.

Elsewhere, troops swiftly responded to cattle rustling in Plateau State’s Bokkos Local Government Area, recovering 57 stolen cows.

Commending the troops, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede assured continued support and combat enablers to sustain the momentum against terrorism.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to restoring national security.
