Troops neutralize eight terrorists, recover arms, rescue abducted victims

In a series of coordinated operations across the North East, Nigerian Army troops achieved significant victories against insurgents, neutralizing eight notorious terrorists and recovering arms, while rescuing several abducted victims.

According to military sources, the military’s actions targeted key terrorist strongholds and disrupted logistics and arms supply networks.

On 22 September 2024, troops in Borno State repelled a terrorist attack aimed at raiding villages for supplies.

After an intense firefight, three terrorists were neutralized, and troops recovered weapons, including a light machine gun, an AK-47 rifle, grenades, and other items.

In Gwoza Local Government Area, soldiers rescued 16 hostages during a pursuit of terrorists escorting abducted victims. Despite heavy rain, the troops successfully eliminated one terrorist, forcing others to flee and leaving behind 10 men and 6 women.

Additional arms and items were recovered after the operation.

Further operations in Yobe State saw the army eliminate four terrorists in Madza and Azare villages, recovering rifles and ammunition.

In the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, a suspected arms supplier was arrested, with troops seizing 178 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag of flour.

These operations underscore the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eliminating terrorism and protecting citizens, with the public encouraged to continue sharing vital intelligence to aid security efforts.
