Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have thwarted an attempt by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists to plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along the Marte–Dikwa road in Borno State.
According to sources cited by counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the operation was part of renewed military offensives aimed at restricting terrorist movement and activities in the North East region.
The incident occurred at about 2:01 a.m. on Tuesday, when troops, acting on intelligence, laid an ambush along the strategic route and intercepted a group of terrorists attempting to plant explosives on a bridge.
The soldiers quickly engaged the insurgents with superior firepower, forcing them to flee and abandon their equipment.
Two IEDs were recovered from the scene.
No casualties were recorded among the troops during the engagement.
This latest success is seen as part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian military to maintain pressure on insurgents and ensure safer road access in the region.
