Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West Operation Fansan Yamma, have successfully destroyed multiple terrorist camps around Bichi Hill in the Danmusa Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State.
In a statement Coordinator, Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma Lieut. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi said this decisive operation, launched on December 19, 2024, followed credible intelligence about heightened terrorist activities that had threatened communities in Danmusa, Safana, and Kankara LGAs.
The offensive combined precision airstrikes with ground assaults to neutralize targets and restore peace. During the operation, the Air Component carried out repeated strikes on identified terrorist locations.
Surviving insurgents attempted to regroup near Bichi Hill but were met with superior firepower from ground troops in an intense engagement that lasted several hours.
As fleeing terrorists attempted to escape on motorcycles, the Air Component tracked and eliminated them in follow-up strikes. Local sources report significant casualties among the terrorists, including the fatal injuries of notorious kingpins Manore and Dogo Nahalle.
Additionally, several camps were destroyed, severely weakening the operational capacity of the terrorists.
Before the operation, communities around Maidabino, Yantumaki, and Mara, as well as other parts of Danmusa and Safana LGAs, faced persistent threats, resulting in mass displacements.
The Theatre Commander of Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Oluyinka Olalekan Soyele, reaffirmed the commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the security of the region.
He also urged the public to avoid harboring or supporting criminal elements.
This success underscores the military’s resolve to protect lives and restore peace in the North West and Niger State.
