This operation yielded two pumping machines, three power generators, a hose, and a toolbox utilized for pipeline breaches.
On the same day, the 3 Battalion troops uncovered an active illegal oil refining site in Delta State’s Enokora Community, equipped with three cooking ovens and six reservoirs.
Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed that during the operation, the vigilant troops discovered and seized 15 sacks and 13 Jerry cans of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) cleverly concealed within the camp.
The troops also confiscated two pumping machines, three power generators, a hose, and a toolbox employed for tampering with oil pipelines.
A parallel operation conducted on the same day by troops from the 3 Battalion resulted in the dismantling of an active illegal oil refining site in Enokora Community, Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State.
The site contained three cooking ovens and six reservoirs dedicated to this illicit activity.
Further bolstering these efforts, on August 29, 2023, troops engaged in anti-oil theft operations acted upon credible intelligence to intercept a wooden boat ferrying 110 sacks of illicitly refined AGO hidden within the creeks of Egbema West, Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area, Imo State.
Additionally, the vigilant troops intercepted two vehicles laden with 18 sacks of illegally refined AGO within the same vicinity.
Brigadier General Nwachukwu urged the public to promptly report any suspected acts of sabotage or criminal behaviour to security agencies.
This collaboration is crucial to fortify the ongoing operations aimed at curbing economic sabotage within the country.
