Troops arrest Damaturu vigilante for alleged ISWAP links

Troops have arrested a vigilante operative in Damaturu for suspected links to Boko Haram and ISWAP.

The arrest was carried out on May 25 by Sector 2 Mobile Intervention Battalion troops working with local hunters.

Security sources identified the suspect as Alhaji Ibrahim, 42.

Ibrahim was picked up about 3:05 p.m. after intelligence reports linked him to communication and collaboration with terrorist elements.

He serves as a vigilante operative attached to Government Girls Unity College in Damaturu and hails from Ahajiri village in Maisandari Ward.

Officials said the arrest highlights concerns about insider threats, noting that some community members provide sensitive information that puts lives at risk.

The suspect is in military custody and undergoing further investigation.
