A Magistrates’ Court in Jos on Monday sentenced a 32-year-old trader, Abdulrahman Yusuf, to a term of three yeas imprisonment for breaking into a house and stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati, sentenced the convict, following his guilty plea to charges preferred against him by the police.
The court, however, gave the convict an option of N100,000 fine.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Ijuptil Thiawur, told the court that a complainant, one Mr Suleiman Abubakar, reported the case at the ‘C’ Police division in Jos on Feb.15.
Thiawur said that the convict broke into the complainant’s house and stole his Plasma Television set and a standing fan both valued at N185,000.

The prosecutor said that during investigation, he confessed to the crime, adding that he sold the items to one Hassan who is now at large.
He said that the offence contravenes the provisions of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
