Chief Anthony Tosan Prest, a proven tourism investor with track records across Nigeria has been elected protem Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN).
Prest’s election was occasioned by urgent importance, and need to send a strong delegation to the upcoming national AGM of ATPN, which will be held in Abuja on November 19th, 2024. at the Kapital Klub & Apartments, Asokoro by the state chapter.
Prest is to lead the Edo delegates to the national AGM of ATPN with a strategic mission to ensure that a national executive position emerges at the Abuja AGM in favor of Edo State.
These were contained in a Communique that was issued at the end of a meeting, which was convened to consolidate existing strength and strategies of the Edo State ATPN.
According to the Communiqué, “At a stakeholders meeting held in Benin by the Edo State chapter of ATPN, it was agreed that there is of urgent importance and needs to send a strong delegation to the upcoming national AGM of ATPN holding at Abuja on November 19th, 2024. at the Kapital Klub & Apartments, Asokoro
“Given that, Chief Anthony Tosan Prest, a proven tourism investor with track records across Nigeria was elected as Protem Chairman of Edo State ATPN Chapter, to lead the Edo state delegates to the national AGM.
“That the strategic mission remains to ensure that a national executive position emerges at the Abuja AGM in favor of Edo State”.
In the Communiqué, Stàkeholders also resolved to review existing relations and chart an authentic ATPN tourism agenda for the Edo State Governor-Elect, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo.
“This is given the need to urgently draw attention to and focus on topical issues affecting the tourism industry in the State.
“In addition, a Committee was set up to plan for a General Conference in the coming year and to set up Standing Committees for technical issues. Prof Emmanuel Aighokhan was elected to chair this Central Committee”.
Present at this Stakeholders meeting were Mr Aiko Obobaifo, Emeritus Executive Secretary of the Institute for Benin Studies., Mr. Efedosa Eghobamien of Amena Academy and Hotels, Comrade Victor Ogba of CMTDO Youth Organisation, Mr. Esokpunwu of Edo Outdoor Adverts Association, a veteran ecotourism consultant Mr. Tony Oregbeme, Mr Osahon Odia, Event Planner, Mr Andy O. Ehanire, MD Ogba Zoo & Nature Park ( ATPN Trustee), Gilgal Umia, Media Content Developer, amongst others.
ATPN is a multisectoral tourism trade organization that coordinates individual practitioners operating in the tourism industry in Nigeria.
