Tinubu to Chair Arewa House Lecture on Saturday in Kaduna

Former governor of Lagos State and All Progressives Congress National national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been scheduled to chair this year’s Arewa House Lecture holding on Saturday in Kaduna.

Arewa House Lecture, is an annual event that provides the platform for interrogating both regional and national issues that affect the North.

One of the prominent Nigerians that had delivered the Arewa House Lecture was Chief Sunday Bolorunduro Awoniyi, the late Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, and one-time Private Secretary of the Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello. Awoniyi was a retired super Permanent Secretary.

Last year’s lecture was delivered by the governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi. This year’s lecture will be delivered by the governor of Plateau State zsimon Lalong.

The lecture, which is the 11th edition of the annual Arewa House lecture,
will take place at the Arewa House Banquet Hall, Kaduna.

According to the organisers of the event, the theme of this year lecture is “Reduction of the Cost of Governance for Inclusive Growth and Youth Development in Northern Nigeria  in a Post-COVID-19 era.”

Plateau State Governor Lalong, the lecture giver, is also the Chairman of Northern Governors’ Forum.

The Arewa House Lecture Series is organised every year in honour of one of the most distinguished founders of modern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello.

The occasion provides statesmen and other distinguished Nigerians an opportunity to address issues of national importance.

Timubu, ahead of his 69th birthday coming up on Monday, has the distinguished honour of presiding or chairing over the August occasion.

In a letter inviting Asiwaju Tinubu, the Director of the Centre, Dr Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, said: “On behalf of the board and management of the Arewa House-Centre for Historical Documentation and Research, Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna- we have the privilege and honour to invite Your Excellency to serve as Chairman at the Eleventh Arewa House Annual Memorial Lecture Series.”
