President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Rotimi Iseoluwa Oyedepo, SAN, as the new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the Federal Ministry of Justice.
Tinubu declares: New tax laws take effect January 2026
Oyedepo, who previously served with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), is moving into the Federal Civil Service following his transfer of service approved by the President.
According to a letter dated December 23 and signed by Omolabake Mafe on behalf of the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, the appointment was made “in the public interest.”
Oyedepo replaces Abubakar Babadoko, who is due to retire on December 31, 2025, after completing the mandatory eight years as a director.
A graduate of the University of Ilorin (2007) and the Nigerian Law School (2008), Oyedepo is expected to strengthen prosecution capacity within the Ministry of Justice, reduce dependence on external lawyers, and help ensure consistency in the Federal Government’s legal strategy.
