Tragedy struck again in Kaduna State on Saturday as a Catholic priest and 10 other persons were kidnapped.
Three people were killed by suspected terrorists in Karku community, Kauru Local Government Area.
The Catholic Archdiocese of Kafanchan confirmed the abduction of the priest, Reverend Father Nathaniel Asuwaye.
He said the attack occurred in the early hours of Saturday.
Sources at the Kaduna State Police Command said security operatives had launched a manhunt for the assailants in the Kauru axis, where the incident took place.
In a statement issued by the Diocesan Chancellor of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kafanchan, Very Reverend Father Jacob Shanet, the Church expressed deep sorrow over the development.
“Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, with profound sadness, we announce the kidnapping of our priest, Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye, the parish priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Karku, Kauru LGA of Kaduna State,” the statement read.

According to Shanet, “Fr. Nathaniel was kidnapped alongside 10 other people at Karku, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.”
He explained that the incident occurred about 3:20 a.m. (WAT) at the priest’s residence, adding that villagers described the attack as an invasion carried out by a group of terrorists. [The Guardian]
