Terrorist video: Kwara govt vows to rescue abducted victims

The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to rescuing victims kidnapped during the February 3 attack on Woro community in Kaima Local Government Area of the state.

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, made this known in a statement issued on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

Olukoju said the government was deeply concerned about the video released by terrorists, showing the abducted victims.

Olukoju said officials were working with security agencies and stakeholders to analyse the footage and verify the identities of those shown.

The commissioner stated: “The Kwara State Government is deeply concerned. Our thoughts are with affected families, and we reaffirm our commitment to securing the safe return of all victims.

“We acknowledge the anxiety this footage may cause. Security agencies are carefully analysing the video to establish the identities of those shown.”

She noted that varying accounts had emerged regarding the number of abducted persons since the incident.

“For this reason, neither the state government nor security agencies have announced a definitive figure,” Olukoju said, adding that the government’s priority remains the safe rescue of all affected citizens and ensuring perpetrators face justice.

The commissioner confirmed that a few persons had been preliminarily identified as Woro residents, while others remained unaccounted for.

Some initially reported missing have reunited with families, while others temporarily relocated to neighbouring communities, including Wawa and New Bussa in Niger State.

She added that the response committee, led by Ahmed Muhammed, continues coordinating security, humanitarian support and efforts to return displaced persons safely.
