Pandemonium broke out Thursday night at the Benue State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Makurdi as known aides of the State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, invaded the place, causing disruption of a meeting by the state exco of the party.
THE CONCLAVE reports that the meeting was convened to quash the purported suspension of the state chairman of the party, Comrade Austin Agada.
Reports said that the party’ s executives from Obadigbo had converged on the secretariat to address and thank the State Exco for quashing the purported suspension of Comrade Agada and to pass a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu.
It was in the middle of proceedings, according to reports, that the governor’s aides, led by his Chief of Staff [CoS] suddenly struck, causing bedlam in the ecosytem of the party secretariat.
APC State Publicity Secretary, Mr Dan-Morgan Ihomun confirmed the development in a telephone interview with THE CONCLAVE.
He said that during the invasion, the governor’s aides, accompanied by three armed policemen, attempted to seize the State Chairman.
“They broke TV cameras in the process, but we resisted them and refused to let them have their way.
“The CSO came in with a reinforcement of three Hilux vans and threw on the premises cannisters of teargas .
“Shockingly, one of the policemen shot twice, but we held him and ensured he was arrested and handed over to another policeman in mufti who took him to the Police Station.”
The State Party spokesperson said that the CSO to the governor succeeded in arresting and whisking away to an unknown destination the State Youth Leader of the party, Tertindi Sado Adom.
According to him, “We do not know the whereabouts of Tertindi Sado Adom. The CSO wanted to move the State Party Chairman, Comrade Agada from the Station. We resisted the attempt.
“As I speak to you, Comrade Agada is still in safe custody at the Police Station, and we are here keeping vigil.”
