Teibowei and Comrade Joseph elected to FUO Governing Council

Dr. Juliet Bodisere Teibowei and Comrade Kalizibe Joseph have been elected to the Governing Council of the Federal University Otuoke (FUO) during the 14th Special Congregation.

The election, overseen by Vice Chancellor Professor Teddy Charles Adias, took place at the Skills Auditorium on the East Campus on Thursday, May 23, 2024. The event saw a significant turnout, with staff members actively participating in the voting process.

Dr. Teibowei secured her position as the academic representative with 262 votes, defeating her opponent, Dr. Mercy Robert, who received 29 votes. Comrade Joseph, the incumbent SSANU Chairman of the FUO branch, was elected unopposed as the non-academic representative after the disqualification of his opponent due to procedural issues.

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Teibowei expressed her gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for facilitating a transparent election and thanked the congregation for their support. She pledged to work collaboratively with the university management and staff to ensure effective representation and institutional growth.

Comrade Joseph also conveyed his appreciation to the Vice Chancellor and the congregation for their support and promised to uphold his responsibilities diligently.

Vice Chancellor Professor Adias emphasized the collective victory of the congregation and encouraged Dr. Robert to collaborate with Dr. Teibowei for the betterment of the university. He called on the congregation to support the newly elected members and avoid undermining their efforts, stressing the importance of unity and development for FUO.
