Tears flow freely as suspected herders kill Police PRO’s cousins in Benue

Suspected armed herdsmen, on Sunday, attacked communities in the Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, killing no fewer than seven persons.

Reports said that three of the slain victims were cousins to the spokesperson of the police in the state, Catherine Anene.

A native was quoted to have said that the attack happened in the early hours of last Sunday, adding that several people were injured by the assailants.

The native said, “Four people were killed at Tse Gamber in the Sengev Council Ward while three others were killed at camp Nagi in the Mbachohon Council Ward located along Naka-Agagbe Road.”

The police spokesperson, Catherine Anene, confirmed that she was from one of the communities, adding that three of those killed were her cousins.

“That is my village; three of my cousins were killed, and that is the total number,” she said.
