The Commandant General of Nigeria security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has advocated the establishment of a robust, concise and more reliable intelligence-based fusion center as a panacea to winning the fight against the assymetric warfare and other security challenges confronting the nation.

According to NSCDC Director of Public Relations, DCC Olusola Odumosu, the Commandant General made this call during the ongoing second Ministerial Strategy Retreat organised by the Ministry of Interior in Ilorin, Kwara State where he emphasised on the need for security and law enforcement agencies to come together and work cooperatively in developing strategies towards strengthening the nation’s internal security architecture and making Nigeria safe and secure for all to live and thrive.

Audi maintained that the Crime Fusion Center if established would provide the platform for collaborative efforts between security and law enforcement agencies to share resources, expertise and information in order to detect criminals and terrorists activities by processing and integrating the information each agency has together to prevent security gaps due to lack of effective communication.

He said that more credible intelligence gathering and sharing among security agencies was a veritable tool for an effective fight against insecurity in Nigeria and the fusion center would provide the platform for improved relationship among these agencies towards enhancing better service delivery for collective safety and security.

The NSCDC boss therefore called for a more robust relationship to strengthen Nigeria’s internal security architecture; as, according to him, lack of synergy and collaboration was one of the factors militating against the successful fight against banditry, insurgency, kidnapping for ransom and a host of other threats against Nigeria’s National security.

“It is high time we dropped the toga of service supremacy and replace it with a more reliable template for a more cordial relationship among all stakeholders involved in the fight against insecurity, this will help to restore the confidence of Nigerians in all security and law enforcement agencies” Audi said.
