A Brigadier General of the Nigerian Army, Uwem Harold Udokwere [Retd], has been killed in his Abuja home.
Udokwere was said to have been killed in the early hours of Saturday, June 22, 2024, at his Sunshine Homes Estate in Abuja.
The killers suspected to be armed robbers attacked the Sunshine Homes Estate about 3am according to the FCT police.
The Police said they had launched a manhunt for the killers.
The FCT Police Command stated that Commissioner of Police, Ben Igweh, had ordered immediate and discreet investigation into circumstances surrounding the killing.
FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said in a statement on Saturday night that, “In response to the tragic and unprecedented attack at Sunshine Homes Estate by armed robbers, resulting in the untimely demise of Brigadier General Uwem Harold Udokwere (retd.) on June 22, 2024, at approximately 03:00 am, the commissioner of police, FCT, CP Ben Igweh has promptly ordered a thorough and discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding this regrettable event.”
The statement said CP Igweh had also expressed profound condolences to the bereaved family and assured them and the public of swift justice for the murderers.
The police commissioner was quoted to have said every effort would be made to ensure that the perpetrators of the atrocious act were apprehended and brought to justice.
The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the strong commitment of the FCT Police Command to secure the security landscape of the nation’s capital, by continually adapting strategies to effectively combat evolving criminal activities.
