Super Eagles play 4-4 with Leone Stars

The Leone Stars look very promising when the reverse leg holds next week In Libreville.

Even though the Super Eagles with seven points still lead the Group L, their stature was badly bruised.

In three matches of the series, they had conceded seven goals indicating their weak defence and goalkeeping.

Tactically, the team did not exhibit any trace of cohesiveness even as the coach, Gernot Rohr who has been in charge for over five years was bereft of ideas as the match turned nightmarish.

Early goals by Alex Iwobi and Victor Iwobi gave false hope of possible annihilation of bottom of the ladder-placed Sierra Leone.

That was even further fuelled by Iwobi scoring the third goal and Samuel Chukwueze making it four all within 30 minutes.

They began an amazing comeback by the Sierra Leoneans.

Kwame Quee pulled a goal back four minutes before half time.

Nigerian fans probably might not have seen the writing on the wall as the first half ended 4-1.

More trouble came as Alhaji Kamara pulled another goal back to make it 4-2.

There and then, the panic mode was activated in the Nigerian team and its technical bench.

Then Mustapha Bundu made it 4-3 to set more confusion in the Nigerian team.

Alhaji Kamara then levelled up in the amazing come-back for the Sierra Leoneans who were even threatening to get the winner. (Additional reports from Sportsvilagesquare)
