The Federal Government team, comprising Head of Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, Group Chief Executive Officer, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, the Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijjani Umar, and former governor of Edo State, and one time president of NLC, Adams Oshiomhole, are meeting with organised labour at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The organised labour is led by the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, and his Trade Union Congress, TUC, counterpart, Festus Osifo.

The meeting is holding at the Conference Hall of the Chief of Staff to the President.

The meeting follows NNPCL’s announcement of approved upward review in the pump price of petrol nationwide.

“The approval takes effect from Wednesday, 31 May,” the NNPCL said in a circular on Wednesday.

President Bola Tinubu had in his inaugural speech on May 29, announced that “Subsidy is gone” and the announcement had led to the astronomical increase in the petroleum pump price and the attendant fuel scarcity.

The development has drawn the ire of the organised labour.

The Labour has kicked against the announcement made by the President and the recent hike in the petroleum pump price.
