The Lagos State Government has, in a somewhat swift reaction, ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, Lekki.
The action is pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of Master Sylvester Oromoni (Jnr), a student of the school.
The State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, announced the closure after a meeting with the school’s management and staff members on Friday.
Adefisayo, however, called for calm among the stakeholders, stressing that no effort would be spared in getting to the roots of the incident.
The parents of the JSS 2 student had alleged that Master Oromoni was abused by senior students for his failure to join “secret cult” in the school.
