Students appeal for rescue of abducted female varsity students

The Katsina State chapter of the National Association of University Students, through its Campus Monitoring Committee, has issued a pressing appeal for immediate action to rescue five female students who were abducted earlier today from the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State.

The official statement released by Abdulhaleem Abdulrafiu, Secretary General of the Campus Monitoring Committee, said the distressing incident unfolded during the early hours of Wednesday, October 4, 2023, as these students were forcibly taken from their educational institution.

“The safety and well-being of these young women are now of paramount concerns, prompting the committee to implore the university management and the Katsina State Government to prioritize their swift and secure return.

“Recognizing the complexities inherent in addressing such a crisis, the committee underscores the critical need for a rapid and coordinated response.

“Time is of the essence, and it is imperative that all necessary resources are promptly deployed, security agencies are actively engaged, and every available means is harnessed to secure the immediate release of the abducted students.

“In addition to these urgent actions, the committee further calls for regular updates on the progress of the ongoing rescue efforts. Such transparency in communication will provide essential information to the affected families, the university community, and the general public, serving to alleviate anxiety and demonstrating a steadfast commitment to achieving a swift resolution.

“The Campus Monitoring Committee extends its deepest sympathies to the families of the kidnapped students, who are undoubtedly enduring profound distress during this harrowing ordeal.

“The thoughts and prayers of the committee and the entire community are with them during this challenging time.

“The Campus Monitoring Committee makes an earnest appeal to the management of Federal University Dutsin-Ma, the Katsina State Government, and all relevant authorities to exert their utmost efforts, collaborate effectively, and work tirelessly to secure the immediate release of the kidnapped female students within the next 24 hours.

“The safety of these students is paramount, and swift and decisive action is deemed necessary to bring an end to this distressing situation.

“The committee urges the public to stand in solidarity with the affected families and the university community, offering support, prayers, and any relevant information that could aid in the ongoing rescue operation,” the students said.
