State House, in Abuja, has admitted committing an “error” in its statement on Thursday claiming that President Bola Tinubu was the first African leader to ring the bell at NASDAQ in the United States.

The statement containing the error was signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

But the corrigendum to cure the mischief was issued on Friday by State House Media and Publicity Office.

The corrigendum reads: “We inadvertently referred to President Bola Tinubu as the first African leader to ring the bell at NASDAQ on Wednesday in New York, based on the information provided by a third-party event organiser.

“We have since found out that this information was/is incorrect as a former African leader has indeed had the privilege.

“This error is sincerely regretted.”

Recall that this is the second error that Ajuri Ngelale would sign off in the last two to three weeks.

He had issued a statement to the effect that UAE authorities had lifted vusa ban on Nigerians and the ban on flight operations between the countries.

CNN had countered the report, saying UAE had not lifted visa ban on Nigerians, which report turned out to be true.
