A former Army Intelligence Officer, Col Hassan Stan-Labo (retd) has warned against Nigeria negotiating with bandits whom he said had taken over the country and, consequently, threatening its sovereignty.
He called out President Muhammadu Buhari on the insecurity in the country, asking: “Can someone tell the President that Nigeria is sinking?”
Stan-Labo spoke on Arise TV New interview programme anchored by Reuben Abati.
“We cannot and I repeat, we cannot negotiate with these guys (bandits); we have got what it takes to crush them off. You only negotiate when you have not done your homework; when you have not put in place what you should have put in place.
“So, when they have taken over your citizens, your kids, and hold them to ransom, there is nothing you can do. Any attempt at rescue operations will cause a high collateral damage. You will lose a half or over three quarters of them in order to set them free.”
He said that what was expected of Nigeria as a strong defence force, and having stocked its inventory, was to take the battle to the bandits and crush them
He stated that Nigeria had assisted Liberia and Serria Leone and wondered what was happening to the country.
