Stakeholders in the National Assembly have raised concerns over the effectiveness of the Secretary to the National Assembly Service Commission, Mr Lucky Ikharo, questioning his ability to perform duties as outlined in the commission’s mandate.
According to sources, the Secretary’s office has allegedly abdicated key responsibilities, including guiding and directing the commission’s leadership on appointments and promotions, to the commissioners and Executive Chairman.
This development has sparked criticism, with stakeholders highlighting the absence of synergy between the Office of the Commission Secretary and that of the Clerk to the National Assembly.

The recent appointments made by the commission have been particularly contentious, with stakeholders accusing the commission of disregarding principles of competence, seniority, and federal character.
These allegations have reportedly caught the attention of the Senate leadership, which has summoned the commission to explain the rationale behind the appointments.
