The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic deaths of 10 tomato traders from Zaria, who fell victim to a bandit attack in Katsina State.

The traders, who hailed from Danmagaji Market in Zaria, were reportedly returning from a business trip to Katsina and Zamfara states when they were ambushed by armed bandits at Takoki village in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to reports, the attack caused panic among the traders, prompting the driver of the truck conveying them to reverse at high speed in a desperate bid to escape. The vehicle subsequently veered off a bridge, resulting in multiple fatalities. Ten traders lost their lives, while seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries. Additionally, five traders were reportedly abducted by the assailants, and goods valued at approximately ₦60 million were destroyed.

In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Speaker Abbas strongly condemned the attack and called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the kidnapped victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
