Teslim Ajimobi, the younger brother of former Oyo State governor Abiola Ajimobi, has died in London, UK — on the exact day the family gathered to remember his late elder brother, six years after.

The heartbreaking coincidence was confirmed on Thursday, June 26, 2026. BBC News Yoruba reported that Teslim passed away Thursday night in London, just hours after relatives and associates had sat together at Abiola Ajimobi’s Ibadan residence for prayers marking six years since the former governor’s death.

—“A grief that came full circle”—

“Exactly six years after the passing of former Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, his younger brother, Alhaji Teslim Adeboye Ajimobi, passes on in London. He reportedly passed on Thursday, June 25th,” an Ibadan-based online publication wrote.

For many who heard the news, it felt like history folding in on itself. Abiola Ajimobi died on June 25, 2020. Teslim died on June 25, 2026. Same date. Same wound, reopened.

Wasiu Ajimobi, another brother of the late governor, confirmed the development and said the family would make a formal announcement Friday morning.

—From Ibadan to London, a life of service and business—

Teslim, 67, was more than just the governor’s brother. He served as caretaker chairman of Ibadan South-East LGA in 2017 and was active in local administration in Oyo State.

Beyond politics, he built a life in business within and outside Nigeria, holding directorship roles in UK-based firms, including Teslis Global Services Ltd.

As of press time, the Ajimobi family had not released an official statement on the cause of death.

One family mourns twice. And on one date, six years apart, heaven called both brothers home.
