Former Kaduna Central senator Shehu Sani has asked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to drop planned criminal charges against ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki over the 2018 Offa robbery, warning against the use of state power for political fights.

In a post on X on April 17, 2026, Sani said he endured a similar ordeal when the Kaduna State Government filed criminal and civil cases against him in five different courts.

“I wish to appeal to the Governor of Kwara State, my friend and brother, His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to drop the idea of filing a criminal charge against Senator Bukola Saraki and others over the 2018 Offa Robbery Incident,” Sani wrote.

He added: “In the past, I had the experience of being framed and dragged to 5 different High Courts in Kaduna, and slammed with civil and criminal charges, and The Lord saved me.”

The appeal comes days after Kwara filed fresh 20-count charges against Saraki and former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed in connection with the April 5, 2018 Offa bank robbery that left 33 people dead.

Saraki has called the new charges “frivolous” and “politically motivated.” The Kwara Government insists a 2018 federal legal advice never cleared Saraki and instead recommended further investigation.

Sani, a civil rights activist turned senator, did not comment on the merits of the Offa case. His message focused on restraint: “Exercise power with caution,” the underlying theme of his post.

The former lawmaker was himself arraigned by the EFCC in 2020 over alleged extortion and bribery, charges he claimed were politically driven. He was later discharged.
