Colombian singer Shakira and Nigerian Grammy-winning Afrobeat superstar Burna Boy are set to release the official 2026 FIFA World Cup song — “Dai Dai” on May 14.
FIFA selected the song as official song for the global tournament to be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States from June 11 to July 19.
Shakira unveiled a minute-long clip of her singing the song, alongside Burna Boy on X.
In the video clip, she appears on the field of Brazil’s iconic Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro holding the “Trionda”, the official World Cup match ball, singing one verse of the song in English, with Burna Boy harmonising with her.
They were joined by dancers dressed in the colours of national teams taking part in the World Cup.
The short clip, also shared by the FIFA World Cup account, ended with the camera zooming out with fireworks going off over the stadium with the message — “We are ready.”
Shakira’s ‘Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’ was the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa.
The song was released in May 2010, featuring Freshlyground, and it became a massive global hit, widely regarded as one of the most popular world cup anthems ever.
Meanwhile, the 2026 World Cup tournament kicks off on June 11, with Mexico taking on South Africa at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
