Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume, is back in Abuja and will resume in his office on Monday.
THE CONCLAVE can confirm that Akume arrived in Abuja on Friday evening from Germany, where he had been on a short medical vacation.
As earlier reported by THE CONCLAVE, the SGF travelled to Germany for his normal annual medical check-up.
His Special Assistant (Special Duties), Mr Loverty Terr Makyur, had told THE CONCLAVE that his boss was scheduled to arrive in Abuja on Friday evening.
Makyur had spoken on the issue against the backdrop of a report by SaharaReporters that the SGF took ill some time ago and was flown to Germany.
He had said that Senator Akume, whom he gladly referred to as “The Just George of our time,” had successful annual medicals in Germany.
According to him: “Senator Akume goes for his medicals in Germany annually. He travelled about two weeks ago for his routine annual checkup. He is done with it, and I can confirm to you that he will arrive in Abuja this evening (Friday, September 8).”
Makyur had dismissed the report by SaharaReporters that Senator Akume took ill and was flown out of Nigeria to Germany.
He said the report was a product of mischief, pointing how that only truth could cure the mischief.
He said that the truth was that Senator Akume remained “hale and hearty, fit as a fiddle, and can be signed on by Arsenal to reinforce their defence as he (Akume) is doing in governance to reinforce the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the SGF and the engine room of the government.”
