Seven persons have been arraigned for the inhuman treatment of a widow accused of killing her husband in Aguleri community, Anambra State.
The victim was stripped naked and paraded round the community by her in-laws, as curses were rained on her for allegedly causing the death of her husband through adultery.
The state Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, Tuesday, said the seven persons were also remanded in prison.
He said that the Anambra State Police Command had continued the search for other suspects involved in the act.
Echeng stated these during a courtesy visit by the Ultimate Business Women and Farmers Association of Nigeria at the police headquarters in Awka.
He said those involved in the torture of the widow would face the full wrath of the law, stressing the need to protect the dignity of womanhood.
The National President of the association, Mrs Nkiru Nwagbo, thanked the police for handling the case professionally.
