Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has condemned the attack on the chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo LGA, Asimiyu Ajibola alias Baba Isila, urging politicians to embrace peaceful democratic processes ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

Suspected gunmen reportedly attacked Ajibola and his associates on Wednesday night in Osogbo, leaving the politician injured.

The singer reacted Thursday on his X account after gunmen allegedly opened fire around 9:50 p.m. near the Osogbo Community Bank axis in the MDS area on a blue Toyota Corolla carrying Ajibola and his associates. The incident caused panic among residents while the Accord Party chieftain was rushed to a teaching hospital for treatment.

“Regardless of our political differences, everyone must make sure they are not contributing to insecurity in our nation,” Davido wrote.

“The attack on the Chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government by political hoodlums must be condemned and rejected by all.”

Davido urged political actors to resolve contests through elections, not violence. “If APC is sure they are popular, let’s settle this with ballot papers, not guns or weapons,” he added.

The attack comes ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election, in which Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, is expected to seek re-election.
