Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately and unconditionally release Mr Nnamdi Chude, who was reportedly arrested, on Saturday, for a tweet alleging electoral offences in Anambra State.
SERAP, in a post on its social media, on Monday, said Chude was reportedly apprehended by police operatives in Onitsha and taken to Awka before being transferred to Abuja.
The group threatened to sue the Buhari administration if he was not released within 24 hours.
“The Buhari administration must immediately and unconditionally release Mr Nnamdi Chude who was reportedly arrested on Saturday over a tweet alleging electoral offences in Anambra State.
“Chude was reportedly apprehended by police operatives in Onitsha and taken to Awka before being transferred to Abuja. We’ll see in court if he is not released within 24 hours,” the message read.
