Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has given Federal Government of Nigeria 48 hours to release Marshal Abubakar who was reportedly arrested for representing journalist, Omoyele Sowore.
Reacting to the arrest of Marshal Abubakar on Friday, SERAP said Abubakar was a lawyer from Femi Falana Chambers.
Lawyers should never be arrested simply for representing their clients or identifying with their clients causes, SERAP said.

“Abubakar is a lawyer from Femi Falana Chambers. Lawyers should never be arrested simply for representing their clients or identifying with their clients causes.
“The arrest of Mr Abubakar is a flagrant violation of the independence of the legal profession, and fair trial rights.”
“We’ll see in court if he is not released within 48 hours” the nonprofit, nonpartisan, legal and advocacy organization declared.
