The Eduere Girls Foundation, in partnership with the Do Foundation, led a vibrant awareness walk in Bayelsa State to promote Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support for children.

The initiative aims to raise funds for training teachers to address the educational needs of children with disabilities in the state.
The walk, which began at Onopa in Amarata and concluded at Ekeki Motor Park, drew participation from prominent figures, including Chief Godspower Oporomo, State Commissioner for Ijaw National Affairs, and High Chief Collins Cocodia, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters.
Other supporters included the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (Bayelsa Chapter), led by Hon. Ekpomokumo Doutimiaeyo, and representatives from the Ministry of Women Affairs and the Queen Diogoli Foundation.
The founder of the Eduere Girls Foundation, Elizabeth Ijeh-Tarila Jack, who is based in the United Kingdom, highlighted the critical shortage of specially trained teachers in Bayelsa.

“This walk is a call to action to sponsor teacher training and provide resources for schools to ensure children with disabilities can excel,” she said
Also Speaking, founder of the Do Foundation, Dr.Dise Ogbise Goddy Harry expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration and urged individuals and corporations to support the initiative.
Special Adviser on Governor Douye Diri on Political Matters, High Chief Cocodia emphasized that education is a universal right, advocating for greater investment in training teachers for special needs education.
The State Commissioner for Ijaw National Affairs, Chief Godspower Oporomo also called for total support for the targeted aim of the walk insisting that the beneficiaries of the planned programme are of the Ijaw extractions and the support is needed so that children with disability will not feel excepted by the society.”
The event underscored a collective commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for children with special needs in Bayelsa State.
