A former senator and one time deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Solomon Ewuga, has debunked rumours doing the rounds that he is eyeing the Aren Akun’s vacant stool.
Senator Ewuga, made this known in a statement issued by one of his aides, Hassan Lega, in Lafia, on Thursday.
“The attention of Senator Solomon Ewuga has been drawn to a purported publication on social media, attributed to him by Mr. Bamaiyi Daniel Akpu, saying that ‘Solomon Ewuga may exit active politics to pursue the Aren Akun Traditional Stool’.”
“I want to state clearly that I have never indicated any interest in the Aren Akun stool and will never do so,” Senator Ewuga was quoted to have said in the statement.
The elder statesman who prayed for the soul of the late Aren Akun, to continue to rest in peace, urged the public to disregard the purported publication, saying it was from his adversaries who did not mean well for him and his political ambitions.
The statement further said that Senator Ewuga remained focused and determined in his current political engagements and contributions to the state and his party, APC.
“He is resolved to continue serving the people of Nasarawa State in his established capacity as a politician of repute” the statement said.
Recall that HRH Alhaji Usman Galadima Umbugadu, the Aren Akun, died on Sunday, 30th June, 2024 and was laid to rest in his country home, Awogyen Akun, Wakama Ward, Nassarawa Eggon LG of the state on Monday, July 1, 2024.
