The crisis within the All-Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified with the resignation of Senator Iyiola Omisore as the National Secretary of the ruling party.

This followed the resignation of the former National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, on Sunday evening, indicating a deepening turmoil within the party.

According to media reports, Festus Fuanter, the Deputy National Secretary from Plateau State, immediately assumed the position of Acting National Secretary following Omisore’s departure.

This swift transition aims to maintain the functioning of the party’s leadership structure despite the recent resignations.

To further stabilize the situation, Senator Abubakar Kyari from Borno State, the Deputy National Chairman (North), has taken over as Acting Chairman to fill the void left by Senator Adamu’s exit.

This appointment is intended to provide interim leadership and ensure the continuation of essential party operations.

Omisore’s resignation coincided with the scheduled commencement of a critical meeting by the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday afternoon.

The NWC, which serves as the highest decision-making body of the party, now faces the challenge of addressing the recent resignations and addressing the growing internal crisis.

The unfolding events within the APC highlight the underlying tensions and divisions within the party.

The resignations of key officials, including the National Secretary and National Chairman, underscores a deep-seated dissatisfaction or disagreement among party members.

As the NWC convenes to navigate these challenges, its decisions and actions will play a crucial role in shaping the future direction of the All-Progressives Congress.
