In a continued effort to promote education and human capital development, Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, has announced an expansive new scholarship initiative.

Just one week after facilitating the overseas postgraduate education of 70 students, Senator Barau is now set to offer 300 scholarships for Master’s degree programmes in prominent Nigerian universities.

In a statement, Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity Ismail Mudashir said this initiative, organized through the Barau Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), was geared toward providing high-achieving graduates from Kano State with the opportunity to further their studies within the country.

These students, drawn from the three senatorial districts of Kano State, departed on December 29, 2024, from Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA).

The new phase of the scholarship programme is designed to cover the 2025/2026 academic session.

Dr. Maikudi Lawan, Secretary of the BIJF Postgraduate Scholarship Committee, highlighted the program’s aim to nurture talent in various critical fields of science and technology.

He stated that the scholarships would be a catalyst for significant academic growth and research, thereby empowering the next generation of Nigerian professionals.
