Senator Patrick Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District, has demanded an immediate and unconditional release of his Constituent, Elijah Odeh, a young barber, held in Kano State over hairstyle alleged to be offensive to Islam.
Moro in a statement by his Special Assistant on New Media, Emmanuel Eche-Ofun John, said young Elijah, from Adum East, in Obi Local Government Area, was arrested a few days ago by a group of Muslims over claim that the hairstyle he designed on two of his customers was insulting to Islam and Prophet Mohammed.
He said Elijah waas being currently tried in Gyadi-Gyadi Magistrate Court in Kano State and had been denied bail despite intervention efforts by the Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom, and Governor Ganduje of Kano State.

Senator Moro said the arrest and continued incarceration of the young man was unacceptable, unconstitutional and an infringement on his rights to live and do business in any part of the country without molestation and harassment.
He said that no harm must come to him.
The Senator further stated that none of his constituents would suffer unjustly anywhere, as long as he’s their Senator, and promised to follow up on this case, with all the seriousness it deserved until justice was got for Elijah, who he believed had done nothing wrong in being creative and innovative.
